How do I schedule an appointment to see my counselor?
Any student may schedule an appointment with a counselor by coming to the School Counseling Office before or after school. Students may also meet with counselors during their lunch or advisement period.

Once I schedule an appointment with my counselor, how will I be able to leave class to come to my appointment?
Students will be given passes to come the School Counseling Office when they schedule an appointment or one will be delivered, usually the period before the schedule appointment time.

If I participate in a group offered by the School Counseling Department, will that be counted as an excused absence from class?
Participation in groups offered by the School Counseling Office is an appropriate part of students' public school opportunities. Students participating in groups will not be counted absent from their regularly scheduled classes, but are expected to make up any missed class work. Typically groups will meet on a rolling schedule to avoid missing the same period each week.

What if I receive a pass to come to the School Counseling Office when I'm supposed to be taking a test or participating in an important class project?
Any student that receives a pass to see a counselor during a time when they are taking a test or participating in another important class project is asked to reschedule the appointment for a later time. Please come to the School Counseling Office at the end of the period or test/project to reschedule the appointment.

I need to get my scheduled changed. Is that something my counselor can help me with?
Schedule changes are processed through the Curriculum Office but counselors are available to offer advisement.

I would like to find out more information about a scholarship that I saw listed in the senior newsletter. How do I get an application?
All scholarship information at South Gwinnett High School is coordinated by Ms. Rangel, our College and Career Counselor. Scholarship announcements are made in the Senior Newsletter and on our school website. Students interested in obtaining scholarship applications may find them in the College and Career Center.

I need to get a certificate of attendance so I can get my driver's license. Where do I go?
Certificates of attendance may be obtained in the Counseling Office. Please see Mrs. Rabb to obtain a certificate of attendance or for additional information. Certificates of attendance are $2 each. Please allow 24 hours for processing.

I'm under 18 and I would like to get a job. Where do I go to get a student work permit?
Student work permits may be obtained in the Main Office or Counseling Office.
